The Allied Gardens Spring Fest Parade
Saturday, May 3rd 2008

WHERE:  Meet at our Martial Arts After School display booth at the Allied Gardens Recreation Center (Next to Lewis Middle School) grass area at 10:15! We will line up, and then walk over to the parade staging area at 51st street & Greenbrier (on the soccer field at the recreation center) at around 10:30.  Directions to park are below.

WHEN:    10:15!  See ABOVE!!  The parade starts at 10:30, arrive early, as the streets will get blocked off.

DRESS:  Martial Arts Uniform AND Belt.  OR Martial Arts After School t-shirt and white pants or sweats.

WHAT TO BRING: Last year it was hot, so bring a water bottle for your child if you want, but they cannot carry it in the parade.  Additionally sunscreen & spray bottle might also be a good idea… AND Lots of energy and a loud KEY-OP! 

WHAT NEXT:  Return the bottom half of this form to your Instructor if you want to participate!

Directions to Parade:  Highway 8 to Waring Rd. Exit (near SDSU), go north to 4th stop light, make left on Greenbrier Ave., go straight into the recreation center parking lot or find parking on the street.

We are going to have a SPECIAL PRACTICE CLASS on Saturday April 28th (info given when permission slip returned)

DURING THE PARADE:

We will be marching in the parade doing selected Martial Arts movements.  As we walk your child will demonstrate the different forms and movements they have learned.  INSTRUCTORS will lead the movements.  Before the parade begins, we will review the movements and forms, so be sure to be on time!  Parents may not march in the parade with their children unless they are a volunteer (see below).  Once we start marching, the entire parade route takes only a few minutes, however it might take some time before our turn to march.

Movements Demonstrated during parade:  Students will do movements learned during this 6 week session.  Please see the curriculum handout given on the second week of class OR you can visit our WEBSITE www.maas-online.org for the curriculum as well.   PLUS students from the Allied Gardens School of Martial Arts will be demonstrating weapons forms and advanced movements as well as riding on a parade float!

 

AFTER THE PARADE:

Meet your child again at our display booth at the Allied Gardens Recreation Center field. (Next to Lewis Middle School) We will wait with the children at our display booth, so please be prompt in picking them up.  Then stay and enjoy the day at the Festival!!!!

 

A SPRINGFEST CARINVAL WILL BE HELD AFTER THE PARADE… STAY AND HAVE FUN!!!

The Spring Fest event is from 9:00 to 4:00. Our school and other members of our community will have display booths.

 

  The event will include:    A Variety of Booths (Including our own booth!), INSTRUCTORS in a DUNK TANK!!! Food (Hotdogs, Hamburgers, and Sodas)   Games/ Rides/ Carnival:  (Dunk Tank! Obstacle Course, Slide.   Entertainment (Live Band, DJ’ed music, Dancing)
