The after school program is designed as a "part time"
type of work. It is excellent for martial arts school owners
or instructors that teach martial arts for a living as many
of these lessons are during your "off hours" when
you school is closed! It ALSO will promote MAAS's non-profit
mission (which is more than likely similar to your own), to
provide a quality martial arts program to kids after school
at a low cost so children can see the many benefits martial
arts training can offer. In addition, YOUR particular style
of martial arts may be taught at the schools (if it meets
the safety guidelines established in the school district as
well as MAAS's safety guidelines) not just the main curriculum
provided by MAAS!
It is also a GREAT opportunity for those who are interested
in teaching kids (becoming a teacher or public speaker) and
who are also interested in teaching or practicing the martial
arts. It is best to have a time schedule that is flexible
in the late mornings to the afternoon (Lessons start at elementary
schools between (11:00 to 4:30). Our program runs throughout
the traditional school year (i.e. when elementary schools
are in session), and in some cases through the summer (Karate
Camps!)
You are being subcontracted to instruct martial arts at various
elementary school locations throughout San Diego and San Diego
County. As a result, Martial Arts After School is not hiring
you as an employee. Therefore, you will be subcontracted for
your services and monetary compensation for your services
as an Instructor will be issued to you based on the number
of students enrolled in your classes. See the scale listed
below:
$16 per student (Hourly breaks down to on average
between $11 to $33 per hour!)
Pay Scale Increases with more teaching experience/ number
of sessions you have instructed.
Additional monetary compensation and incentive scale:
$5 per uniform sold
$2 per shirt sold
$100 bonus if more than 20 enrolled at one school.
Per student earnings are based on an average class size divided
by hours of instruction. The average size of a class is between
15 to 30 kids. We set a maximum enrollment of 25 to 30 children
to ensure class size does not become too crowded. Income potential
and size of the class is left open to the individual instructors.
If you desire more income, then the flexibility is provided
solely to you to motivate and seek ways to increase the size
of your class…(MAAS Instructors and training staff can teach
you how to do this very effectively!) i.e. better presentations,
call old students, run a better class, inspire kids to promote
your class to their friends, etc.…. Also increasing uniform
and shirt sales can increase your income.
